Who is responsible for your information?
Myst Auto is responsible for the personal information described in this notice.
Email: enquiries@mystauto.com
Telephone / WhatsApp: 07946 799951
Service area: Stamford / Peterborough and the wider East Midlands.
Information I collect
- Your name, telephone number, email address, postcode and preferred contact method.
- Vehicle details including registration, make, model, year, engine size and fuel type.
- Your enquiry, requested service, preferred date and any information you include in messages.
- Booking, work, payment and invoice records when you become a customer.
- Technical information normally recorded by the website host, such as IP address, device and security logs.
Optional location checker
The coverage map only requests your device location after you press the location-check button and choose to allow the browser permission. The approximate coordinates are compared with Myst Auto's usual coverage area within your browser. They are not submitted to Myst Auto, added to the enquiry form or stored by this website.
If you do not want to share your device location, you can decline the permission and send your postcode instead. The map uses third-party map tiles, whose provider receives ordinary connection information and the map tiles requested, as explained below.
Why I use it
- To respond to your enquiry and contact you by your chosen method.
- To check vehicle compatibility, prepare a quote and arrange an appointment.
- To provide the agreed service, take payment and provide aftercare.
- To maintain business, tax and accounting records and deal with complaints or legal claims.
- To protect the website and business from misuse, fraud and security threats.
I use your information where necessary to take steps at your request before entering a contract, to perform a contract, to meet legal obligations, and for legitimate business interests such as administration, security and customer service. I do not use an enquiry to send unrelated marketing without a separate lawful basis.
Who receives it
I do not sell your personal information. I only share it where necessary with service providers such as Netlify for website hosting and form handling, Google Workspace for business email and document storage, WhatsApp when you choose that contact method, payment providers, an accountant or professional adviser, or where disclosure is required by law. Each provider handles information under its own terms and privacy arrangements.
If you choose WhatsApp or PayPal, those providers may process information outside the UK using their own international-transfer safeguards.
How long I keep it
Enquiries that do not become bookings are normally kept for up to 12 months so I can follow up and understand previous advice. Booking, service, invoice and payment records are normally kept for up to six years where needed for tax, accounting, warranty, dispute or legal purposes. Information may be kept for longer where the law requires it or an active dispute makes this necessary.
Cookies and similar technology
The website does not currently use advertising or analytics cookies. It stores your light or dark theme preference in your browser when you use the theme control. Pages may also request fonts, icons and map tiles from third-party services, which receive basic connection information such as your IP address.
If analytics, advertising or other non-essential tracking is added later, this notice and the website's consent controls will be updated before that technology is used.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may ask for access to your information, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or object to its use. Contact me using the details above. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office if you are unhappy with how your information is handled.
